Starting March 1, 2025, members with a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) will have standard out-of-pocket costs (such as deductibles) for virtual visits with PlushCare, Headspace, and Blueberry Pediatrics. This change is due to a federal policy update and applies to all HDHP plans that started on or after January 1, 2025.
Why is this changing?
A temporary federal exception allowed HDHPs to cover telemedicine visits at no cost while maintaining Health Savings Account (HSA) eligibility. This exception expired on December 31, 2024, and no extension has been put in place. As a result, all HDHPs must now follow standard cost-sharing rules for virtual visits.
Does this change affect me?
You are affected if:
- You are enrolled in a Sana H plan that started on or after January 1, 2025 and you use PlushCare, Headspace, or Blueberry Pediatrics for virtual care.
If you’re unsure about your plan details, log in to the Sana Member Portal or contact Sana Support.
What does this mean for my virtual visits?
- Before March 1, 2025: Virtual visits with PlushCare, Headspace, and Blueberry Pediatrics remain $0 under the previous policy.
- On or after March 1, 2025: Standard cost-sharing (e.g., deductibles) will apply based on your plan.
Does this affect all virtual care?
No, this change only applies to PlushCare, Headspace, and Blueberry Pediatrics.
Sana Care remains free for virtual primary care and care navigation and is here to help you find the best care at the best cost.
How much will I pay for a virtual visit?
Your cost depends on your specific plan and deductible status. You can check provider pricing here:
- PPO Plus HSA members: $119 per visit (cost of the visit before the deductible is met). Service is 100% covered after deductible is met.
- Free coaching for PPO Plus HSA plan members. Other services are 100% covered after deductible is met. Costs for Headspace services range from $50-$300.
- PPO Plus HSA members: $5 per visit (cost of the visit before the deductible is met). Service is 100% covered after deductible is met.
