What is Goodbill?
Sana has partnered with Goodbill, a patient advocacy service, to help you navigate the complexities of hospital billing. Did you know that an estimated 60% of hospital bills contain errors? Goodbill works on your behalf to audit these bills, correct errors, and apply for financial assistance programs you may be eligible for.
Why are we providing this?
Most nonprofit hospitals are required by law to offer financial assistance (often called "Charity Care"), but the application process is often difficult. Goodbill ensures you don't pay more than you owe, potentially saving you up to 100% of your out-of-pocket medical expenses.
How the Process Works:
You don’t need to do anything to start this process. It happens automatically behind the scenes:
Detection: If you have a recent hospitalization, ER visit, or inpatient procedure, Sana flags the claim for a potential review.
Outreach: A Goodbill concierge will reach out to you via email or phone. They will identify themselves as a partner of Sana.
Review & Savings: With your permission, Goodbill will review your itemized bill for errors and check your eligibility for hospital financial aid. They handle the paperwork and negotiations for you.
Is there a cost?
No. This service is 100% complimentary for Sana members. Goodbill is a value-added benefit included in your plan to ensure you receive high-quality care at a fair price.
Who is eligible?
Access is available for services at over 3,500 nonprofit hospitals across the US. Typically, this service is triggered by inpatient medical procedures or significant hospital stays where out-of-pocket costs are expected.
