Medical services defined as preventive care by the Affordable Care Act (ACA) are free to Sana members. This means that there are no cost-sharing or copays for these services, even before your deductible is met.
Preventive care is important because it defends you against potential future health issues. Many preventive services happen during your annual check-up.

We encourage you to ask your doctor which services are and aren't considered preventive. Whether or not a service is ultimately billed as preventive depends on the codes used by your doctor. Some services on the preventive lists can also be coded as diagnostic, in which case you'd be subject to cost-share.
