We all know that emergencies happen, and you can't always plan ahead. If you need to visit an ER, Sana has you covered.
Sana plans cover emergency services without prior authorization. Our plans are all-access, so you're not bound by a network or subject to out-of-network fees. If you go to the ER, give them your Sana Member ID card. If the provider has questions, our provider chat and phone numbers are listed for their convenience.
Under a federal law known as the Emergency Medical Treatment and Active Labor Act (EMTALA), all Medicare-participating facilities are required to stabilize and treat individuals coming to Emergency Departments for care, regardless of insurance provider, ability to pay, etc.
While facilities aren't required to bill insurers after treatment, most do because they are eager to collect payment. If a hospital refuses to bill Sana after an unplanned or emergency care visit, our team will work with the hospital to negotiate fair pricing.
