Sana members may add domestic partners to their Sana plans as approved by their HR administrators. Domestic partners can be added at initial enrollment or via a qualifying life event.
Definition of a Domestic Partner
A domestic partner is defined by the employee's state law. If there is no state definition, the domestic partner is not eligible for coverage under a Sana plan. Each group's plan administrator has discretionary authority to interpret these terms and the state law to determine the spousal status of their employees.
Required Documentation
Sana Benefits does not collect any documentation of a domestic partnership. We leave it up to each company's HR administrators to determine eligibility, collect any documentation they deem necessary to verify eligibility and initiate enrollment for the domestic partner.
